How It All Began
The BTF Band came to be from one man in his basement, with a vision. Roy Gillespie is not only the band manager and drummer, but also the founder of this humble group. Gillespie gathered a few talented people together, starting as a 4-piece band: guitar, drums, keys, and one voice. After seeing the beautiful potential they posed, he meticulously added two additional singers and a bassist.

Gillespie's wife came up with the name "Back to Front" as a joke. The way the band members stand when they are performing just so happens to be in age-old order; the oldest in the back, up to the youngest in the front. The band loved the name and chose to have it abbreviated to "BTF."

Now with the band members and a name, the group rehearsed religiously together for a year before having their first show at the end of 2024. Their main genre is R&B music, but they play many other genres such as Pop, Rock, and Funk. As the band is currently primarily focusing on private events, so they can give a more personal approach to their performances, they are expanding very fast to be able to share their talent locally throughout the city of Chicago.
